ACAN (Australian Christian Artists Network) is a membership organization dedicated to supporting Christian artists and the wider industry.

One question we get a lot, and you may be asking is: “Why should I join?” Or even: “What is the point of joining and paying a membership fee when free services are available such as MySpace, YouTube, etc.?”

There is a reason, and that reason is the network. Most of the money received by membership do not go toward the website. There is some money spent for upgrades, hosting, etc, however that's not even a quarter of the money received. What we actually do as ACAN, is provide a back-end network in which members and non-members alike can seek help and information. Every member of the Executive Committee is an actual member of ACAN. Its required as part of our Articles of Association. The reason is because ACAN is a membership organization dedicated to helping fellow artists, industry, and support people in the Christian Music scene. What you won't find in any of the “free” services are things like: A real person to take your phone call; people to answer your e-mail questions and comments; people to attend and support you at gigs, events, and conferences; people to help connect you to other people to accomplish goals and tasks; and much more.

The list of services below is really more of an overview of services that would directly affect you, as the individual member. But as a membership organization, you have a direct voice into how the organization is run. What you want out of ACAN as an organization, is just a phone call or e-mail away. ACAN is more than a website, though that is the central hub of our communications. Its about people, and connecting those people together.

Some of the direct services we provide to the individual members are:

1) Web Presence - You, the member, have the ability to manage your own space, add and remove pictures, sound samples, bios, etc. This can be done by utilizing the member admin console, which is available by logging in from the homepage on the upper right hand corner.

2) Muzo's Breakfast - This is a chance for artists to perform, network, and learn from other artists and the industry.

3) E-Mail Community (acanmembers) - Yes, its back. You can now access a web form to send messages to the ACAN community about what is relivant to you, the member. E-mails will go out twice a week in a batch mailout.

4) Member Forums - Forums are available once you have logged in to the website. Here discussions can be had with other members around the country on different topics. Don't see a topic you want to discuss, feel free to create on, or let us know and we'll make sure it gets created for you.

5) ACANnect - ACANnect is a magazine published each quarter by the ACAN Magazine Subcommittee. Each edition will have Feature Articles, Artist and Industry Focus of a Member, Support Articles such as Tech Tips and How To's, Event Listings and more. Members receive a version mailed to them.
